The “Star” Ferry Free Ride Day for all on July 2, 2017 In Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of HKSAR and The “Star” Ferry’s Entering its 120th Anniversary

June 27, 2017, Hong Kong - To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of HKSAR and The “Star” Ferry’s entering its 120th year, The “Star” Ferry will offer a free ride day to all members of the public on July 2, 2017, the coming Sunday.  Passengers can travel for free on the two inner harbour ferry crossings running between Tsim Sha Tsui and Central, and between Tsim Sha Tsui and Wanchai during that day.

A Hong Kong icon, The “Star” Ferry was founded in 1898.  Crossings of the "Star" Ferry at Victoria Harbour are acclaimed as an important part of the commuter system between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Peninsula. It not only provides affordable and reliable services to the public, but also serves as a not-to-be-missed tourist attraction in Hong Kong. The National Geographic Traveler has named the "Star" Ferry ride as one of "50 places of a lifetime", and the ferry ride is also well known as one of the world's most value-for-money sightseeing trips. It was rated first in the “Top 10 Most Exciting Ferry Rides” poll by the Society of American Travel Writers in 2009.

The "Star" Ferry operates two inner harbour ferry services, Tsim Sha Tsui - Central and Tsim Sha Tsui - Wanchai under a franchise carrying about 50,000 passengers daily, in addition to a harbour tour service running a circular route covering the central Victoria Harbour.  In late 2016, a brand new Water Tour service was launched for passengers to explore the beauty, magnificent views, and adventure of Hong Kong’s waters by deploying the latest generation of emission reduction technology and environmentally friendly ferry.
